Summary
The Quench Operator is responsible for executing direction provided to the shift operations team to operate the manufacturing assets in a disciplined manner to safely and efficiently manufacture a quality product. The Quench Operator is responsible for the use of operational discipline instructional documentation including SOP, SMP, SWI, SKP, Job Plan or any other temporary or permanent approved procedures in addition to adherence to all Site Safety Standards.
Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Provides assistance for minor maintenance under the direction of other area operators or coordinators.
- Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Si offloading (offloading station only) – S-453, S-553
- DPR Processing (STC Accumulator filters only) – S-457, S-557
- Quench Building – S-458
- Si Storage and Filter press – S-580/S-581
Specific tasks include:
· S-458/580 filter press operations
· S-453/S-553 Silicon Trailer unloading and corresponding accurate and timely SAP entries
· S-457/S-557 Filter changes
· Maintains stock items for the quench operations
· Provides assistance for minor maintenance under the direction of other area operators or coordinators.
Essential Functions
· Responsible for operation and maintenance manufacturing assets in disciplined manner adhering to all regulatory and site management systems including thorough completion of process rounds.
· Recognize, react to, and escalate Abnormal Situations to Shift leader.
· Participate in shift exchange for area. Responsible for completion of shift exchange and up to date completion of instructional documentation (including SOP, SMP, SWI, SKP, Job Plan or any other temporary or permanent approved procedures) and shift communication.
CCompleting all purging, prepping, lock-outs safely and according to site standard to ensure the autonomous maintenance work in the area is on schedule. Writes safe work permits in areas as directed.
· Escalation of equipment issues to Shift leader.
Additional Duties/Responsibilities
- Participate in Behavior Based Safety program
- Provide feedback to Operational Excellence and Training team for instructional documentation improvement, modification and completeness.
- Participate in Continuous improvement program by generating and communicating ideas to improve the technology and process operations for higher quality, lower cost, safer and more reliable operation.

Environment/Working Conditions
This job involves a high percentage of time spent on physical activities such as climbing stairs and ladders, operating large manual valves, and tracing lines through crowded pipe racks and wet benches. Environmental conditions of the job include exposure to all kinds of weather, hazardous chemicals, and mechanical and electrical energy. The use of chemically resistant suits, respirators, face shields, goggles, boots, and rubber gloves may be required. The individual must be fit tested for respirator yearly and meet physical requirements for the wearing of a personal respirator. The use of chemically resistant suits, respirators, face shields, goggles, boots, and rubber gloves may be required. This job requires working with hand tools. Maintaining a clean work environment is essential. The individual must be fit tested for respirator yearly and meet physical requirements for the wearing of a personal respirator. At a minimum, a Shift Leader is required to conduct the specified rounds, including one complete process tower walkthrough, designated for their process area. During maintenance shutdowns or process upsets, multiple trips may be required during a single shift.
The range for this position is $28.89- $39.39 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, variable bonus, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
