Summary
The Manufacturing Business Process Engineer / MES Specialist plays a critical role in optimizing manufacturing business processes and enhancing operational efficiency within our manufacturing environment. This position involves the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to ensure seamless integration with existing production processes and business systems.
Essential Functions
- System Design and Implementation: Utilize technical expertise to define business rules to write business logics, aiding in the design and implementation of MES that’s tailored to the unique requirements of manufacturing operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to configure software and integrate the system with existing production processes.
- Data Analysis and Optimization: Analyze operational data collected from various sources such as machines, equipment, and sensors to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Enhance production processes through continuous optimization.
- Integration with Business Systems: Ensure the seamless integration of the MES with other business systems, such as SAP or PLC, to facilitate efficient data exchange and streamlined communication across different departments.
- Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for MES. Monitor system performance, address technical issues, and implement upgrades or modifications as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
- Training and Documentation: Create training programs for production recording and its impact on other business functions and processes. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for MES and related processes.
- Project Management: Lead and facilitate various manufacturing workflow improvement initiatives. Manage projects from conception through implementation, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.

Required Work Experience
- Technical Expertise: Solid understanding of the business processes in batch and continuous manufacturing. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies, such as SCADA systems and PLCs, is advantageous.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are crucial for identifying and addressing operational inefficiencies.
- Experience: 2 years of manufacturing experience is required. Experience with SAP and Manufacturing Execution systems is preferred.
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred, but not required.
Environment/Working Conditions
- Work environment is primarily in an office setting with a large percentage of time spent in the manufacturing areas of the plant.
- Mobility to various work/manufacturing areas is required.
Minimum Required Education/Certification
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. Specialization or coursework in manufacturing systems, industrial automation, or process engineering is highly beneficial
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred, but not required.
The range for this position is $92,320.00 - $126,940.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, variable bonus, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
