High level summary of job

The role of an IT Security Specialist develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive information security program which includes defining security policies, processes, and standards. The security specialist works with the organization to select and deploy technical controls to meet specific security requirements and defines processes and standards to ensure that security configurations are maintained.  Key focus areas include Identity and access management, data protection, threat hunting, incident response, user education, and disaster recovery.

Essential functions of the job

• Monitor security alerts and events from various sources
• Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents and provide detailed reports on findings.
• Drive vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security risks.
• Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization's operations.
• Develops and maintains Incident response and disaster recovery playbooks.
• Provide security awareness training to employees.

Additional Duties/Responsibilities

• Engages directly with third party cyber expertise and service providers.
• Establishes best practices and ensures methodical assessments are executed to drive cyber investment roadmaps.
• Develops and maintains a security architecture process that enables the enterprise to develop and implement security solutions and capabilities that are clearly aligned with business, technology and threat drivers
• Aids CISO activities in support of functional priorities, such as strategic plans, initiatives, and organizational development
• On call 24X7 support

Skills

• Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.

Work Experience

• 10+ years IT experience
• 3+ years Information Security
